Historic
Hoyt Library, built of large limestone blocks and red sandstone
trim, originally opened in 1890. Our restoration work was the library's
first complete renovation in 107 years. The building was rehabilitated
in a way that carefully preserved the original building architecture
and materials while accommodating contemporary library functions.
The exterior stone walls were repaired, waterproofed and protected
with a special drainage system. New mechanical and electrical systems
including more than 130 electrical and data outlets for Internet
and computer access were
also installed and modern technology was provided throughout the
building.
